Hey everyone, I was on the computer and i was kinda bored, so i thought I might make a post about cheerleading, so here it is……
Cheerleading is a dangerous sport that shouldn’t realy be done without a qualified coach, its a fun sport and keeps you really fit. cheerleading involves dancing, tumbling, stunts, kicks, jumps and ripples/waves, but dancing, tumbling, stunts and jumps are the 4 main and well known movements.
Dancing: dancing is pretty much all different movements one after another, if it is done well as a group and in time, it looks awesome!
Tumbling: tumbling is my favourite, most tumbling needs upper and lower body strength. Tumbling makes a routine looks awesome, the most common tumbling is forward and backward rolls, cartwheels and roundoffs, then front and back flips and handsprings, then you can put afew of them together. For example, do a roundoff then turn your rebound into a back handspring, and that looks cool if you can pull it off.
Stunts: stunts can be dangerous if you aren’t strong or don’t know what you are doing. There are usually 5 or 4 people in a stunt group, 2 bases, the flyer, back spot and front spot. All of the people in the stunt plays an important roll, the bases, of course, lift the flyer and has to be strong enough to do so, the flyer has to be really really strong as well, ’cause if he/she is all floppy and sloppy, the bases cant lift her and she’ll fall and could get injured, the back spot helps the flyer up and either the waist or legs of the flyer or wrists of the bases (depends on what stunt is being done), the front spot hold the flyer’s ankles or the bases wrist (this too depends on what stunt is being done). But the 1 thing that everyone has to do is to catch the flyer if she falls!
Kicks: kicks are quite easy and can be done in many different positions and ways and can make a routine just that little bit better.
Jumps: jumps can be really easy but at the same time really hard. There are the easy jumps like the tuck jump, strait jump and star jump, and there are the hard jumps like the toe touch, pike and herkie that needs flexibility and a high jump. But any jump done right makes a routine look good.
Ripples/waves: ripples and waves look AWESOME!!! there are sooo many different ways and styles to do them, you can use every arm motion, jump, anything, a classic example is the Mexican wave, even one of those done well looks sweet in a routine. You can make your own ripple or wave or just look them up on google or YouTube or something. But if they are in time and done properly, they could be the winning move for your routine.
So there’s some info about everything that goes in a routine, now here is afew types of routines and what goes in them…
Stunt: there are about 5 people in a stunt routine, and all you have to do is stunts, i guess name says it all, but it only goes for 1:30 Min’s
Pom: a pom routine involves poms (of course), kicks, jumps and dancing, put them all together and you have a good routine.
Cheer: a cheer routine involves jumps, maybe a few little kicks, tumbling, stunts and the awesome RIPPLES AND WAVES!!!!! love cheer routines.
Combo: maybe even better than cheer is the combo routine, which is the pom and cheer put together! kicks, stunts, jumps, dancing, tumbling and I’m pretty sure you can have RIPPLES AND WAVES!!! combos are good if the squad can pull it off.
Partner: a partner routine only has 2 people in it, a base and a flyer, they have 1:32 mins max to preform partner stunts.
And there you have it, there’s a few different types of routines.
I might edit this post soon, but in the mean time, i hope you liked it, until next time……… CYA!!!
P.S. sorry if the post gets dragged down the page from the add.
